La Porte Fire Station #1 | La Porte, Texas

A material palette of brick and stone reflects the Main Street feel while red window and door framing and a 40ft tower express historic fire station typology

RHA is currently working on the Central Fire Station #1 for the City of La Porte. The new Central Station is composed of a six-bay garage of approximately 7,200SF attached to a two-story office building of approximately 10,800SF. Located one block south of La Porte’s historic Main Street and adjacent to the original station which it is replacing, the new station is sited on a corner property with pedestrian canopies to give the building a street presence similar to that of Main Street. A material palette of brick and stone similiarly reflects the Main Street feel while red window and door framing and a 40ft tower express the historic fire station typology.

The building is designed to be the primary dispatch and control center for the city in the event of a natural disaster, and so includes an onsite generator to power all functions and operations of the building in the event of power loss. The two-story portion of the fire station will house administrative facilities for both the Fire Marshall and Fire Chief as well as a dormitory for the in-house fire crew.
