HISD Foster Elementary | Houston, Texas

Five grade-level classroom pods, each with dedicated support functions, that share music, art and science facilities

Foster Elementary is a two-story 750-student HISD replacement school on an existing five-acre site. The school building is organized into five grade-level instruction facilities—five classroom pods, each with dedicated support functions—that share music, art and science facilities, along a wing linking the grade-level classrooms to a large multipurpose room. The whole organization is composed in a “U” configuration, capturing a landscaped exterior courtyard that provides children a safe, semi-enclosed outdoor space for gathering and recreation.
